About IARC

Funding

IARC activities are mainly funded by the regular budget contributions paid by its Participating States. The regular budget for the 2014-2015 biennium was approved in May 2013 at a level of 40 424 491 EUR.

However, the Agency continues to attract substantial extra-budgetary resources, mainly through competitive grants from funding agencies. The expenditure on grants in 2012 was roughly one third of IARC's overall budget.

Major funding sources include the European Commission, the US National Institutes of Health, the World Cancer Research Fund International, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and both charitable and governmental sources in France, such as ANSES, ARC, CLARA, FINOVI, FDF, and LNCC.
