Senior Visiting Scientist Award 2014

One of the objectives of the Agency is to generate collaborative research links with scientists around the world and an effective mechanism for achieving this is by making an award to an established scientist to spend time at the Agency in Lyon.

The recipients of the 2014 highly competitive Senior Visiting Scientist Award are as follows:

Professor Michael Leitzmann from the University of Regensburg, Regensburg, Germany, who joined the Nutritional Epidemiology Group at IARC for 12 months, starting on 1 September 2014 to work with Dr Isabelle Romieu on mining the serum metabolome for discovery of biomarkers of lifestyle, diet, and body size

 

Professor Walter Prendiville from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Centre (UPMC), Beacon Hospital, Dublin, Republic of Ireland, who joined the Screening Group at IARC for 12 months, starting on 1 August 2014 to work with Dr Rengaswamy Sankaranarayanan on distance learning in cervical pre-cancer management

 

Professor Kyle Steenland from the Department of Environmental Health, Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University, Atlanta, GA, USA, to spend six months in two periods (mid-2014 and mid-2015) in the Section of IARC Monographs at IARC, to work with Dr Kurt Straif on cancer due to lead exposure and methodological work on risk assessment
