Mechanisms of Carcinogenesis - Molecular Mechanisms and Biomarkers Group
Current Research Topics:
(i) mechanistic studies of the molecular events, genetic changes and biological processes involved in the critical steps of cancer development and progression,
(ii) molecular profiling of tumor specimens recruited in the context of epidemiological studies to identify molecular changes (e.g. mutations) associated with environmental exposures, in particular in low resource countries,
(iii) maintain and develop a database of TP53 genetic variations in human cancers and use TP53 mutations as biomarkers of cancer etiology and carcinogen exposures,
(iv) translate findings generated by mechanistic and molecular epidemiology studies into biomarkers for cancer risk assessment and environmental exposures.
