The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) is delighted to announce a Workshop on Emerging Findings in Head and Neck Cancer, which will be held in San Pietro in Bevagna, Manduria, Italy, on 2-3 June 2014. The meeting will precede the 3rd Workshop on Emerging Oncogenic Viruses that is being organised at the same location on 4-8 June, and participants may, of course, opt to attend both meetings.
The impetus for the meeting has come about because of the tremendous pace of discovery in two areas of head and neck cancer: the role of the human papilloma virus (HPV), and genomics of head and neck cancer. Both of these areas have important implications for treatment and clinical care. The workshop will therefore have these three areas as its focus (HPV, genomics, and clinical advances and early detection). Each session will involve 4-5 leading international experts in the field and will allow ample time for discussion and critical evaluation.
The meeting is intended for all those involved in any aspect of head and neck cancer research. The venue will allow casual, prolonged personal interactions, in order to promote in-depth discussions and provide opportunities to establish new collaborations. The official language will be English.
San Pietro in Bevagna is close to the town of Manduria, which is located in the province of Taranto in Puglia, southern Italy.
We look forward to welcoming you in Manduria!
