A new policy review article by scientists from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and partners detailing the current status of vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV) in India’s cervical cancer prevention efforts was published today in The Lancet Oncology.
The article presents an overview of various vaccination programmes and initiatives aimed at reducing cervical cancer in India and discusses some of the challenges faced and overcome during the implementation of these projects.
The article concludes that a combination of efficient screening programmes and HPV vaccination programmes will be highly conducive to the local and global elimination of cervical cancer.
