International Women’s Day 2020: IARC scientists offer advice to help women reduce their cancer risk

Globally, more than 8.5 million women are diagnosed with cancer each year. Nearly half of these cases could be avoided with effective prevention measures. To mark International Women’s Day, which is celebrated on 8 March, three scientists from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) who are experts in cancer prevention share some simple steps that women can take to reduce their risk of developing cancer.

Dr Valerie McCormack, Dr Mary Schubauer-Berigan, and Dr Véronique Chajès discuss some cancer risk factors that women may be exposed to and present ways in which women can take action to reduce or eliminate their exposure to those risk factors.
