In a new paper published in the International Journal of Cancer, scientists from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and contributors to the International Incidence of Childhood Cancer (IICC) collaborative project examine global variations and time trends in incidence of renal tumour types in children (ages 0–14 years) and adolescents (ages 15–19 years).
The researchers analysed data from the comprehensive IICC database, including 15 320 renal tumours in children and 800 in adolescents reported to the 163 contributing registries during the 10-year period 2001–2010. The results are presented by 14 world regions, and by five ethnic groups in the USA. Age‐standardized incidence rates of renal tumours in children and adolescents were found to vary by region and ethnicity.
