New release of the IARC TP53 Database

The Molecular Mechanisms and Biomarkers Group of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) is pleased to announce the release of a new version of the IARC TP53 Database.

The IARC TP53 Database is a molecular epidemiology resource that compiles TP53 gene variations identified in human populations and tumour samples, with associated data on tumour pathology and patient characteristics.

This new version of the database (R20, July 2019) includes a major update of data on germline variations and on the functional assessment of mutant proteins. The full database can be searched and analysed through a publicly and freely available web interface.

The IARC TP53 Database provides a useful tool for a broad range of scientists and clinicians working in different research areas:

– molecular pathology of cancer, to understand the clinical significance of mutations identified in cancer patients; – molecular epidemiology of cancer, to analyse the links between specific exposures and mutation patterns and to make inferences about possible causes of cancer; – genetics, to analyse genotype–phenotype relationships; and – basic research, to study the structural and functional aspects of the p53 protein.
