World Cancer Day seminars at IARC

For World Cancer Day 2019, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has invited two experts on cancer prevention in low-resource settings to present seminars on their work.

The 6th IARC Cancer and Society Lecture will be presented by Groesbeck Parham, MD. Dr Parham is a professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA. His lecture, “Catalysing a shift in cancer control in a low-resource setting by using what’s available”, will be live-streamed on the IARC website at 11.00–12:00 Lyon time (CET) on 4 February 2019, World Cancer Day.

Dr Eva Kantelhardt, who is a clinical gynaecologist and epidemiologist at Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg, in Germany, will present a seminar on “Breast cancer health service in Ethiopia: insights from cancer registration to long-term care”. Her presentation will be live-streamed at 14:00–15:00 Lyon time (CET) on 4 February 2019.

Both seminars will be recorded and made available on the Videos and Podcasts section of the IARC website. Interviews with Dr Kantelhardt and Dr Groesbeck can be found on the World Cancer Day 2019 page of the IARC website.
