First Stone Ceremony for new IARC headquarters building

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), joined by the members of the IARC Scientific Council and representatives of the Ville de Lyon, the Lyon Métropole, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, and the French Government, will hold a First Stone Ceremony on 6 February 2020 to mark the start of construction of the future IARC headquarters building in Gerland, Lyon, France.

IARC Director Dr Elisabete Weiderpass will welcome the delegates to the event, followed by speeches by Mr Bruno Caballé of Art & Build Architects; Mr Gérard Collomb, Mayor of Lyon; Mr David Kimelfeld, President of the Lyon Métropole; Mr Etienne Blanc, Vice-President of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region; and Ms Cécile Dindar, Prefect responsible for Equal Opportunities. Delegates will then be invited to each lay a customized brick depicting the country or institution they represent.
