An article published today in The ASCO Post reports on the address given by Dr Christopher Wild, Director of the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), at the 2018 World Cancer Congress, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in October. Dr Wild praised the recognition of the importance of high-quality cancer registries at the United Nations High-Level Meeting on the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases, held in September. He also provided an overview of the global cancer burden and explained why cancer registration plays a critical role in cancer prevention and control.
