IARC Monographs evaluation of the carcinogenicity of some industrial chemical intermediates and solvents

The results of the recent IARC Monographs evaluation of the carcinogenicity of some industrial chemical intermediates and solvents have now been published in The Lancet Oncology. This summary article presents the conclusions of the IARC Monographs Meeting 125.

The Working Group evaluated five “high production volume” chemicals: glycidyl methacrylate, 1-butyl glycidyl ether, 1-bromo-3-chloropropane, 4-chlorobenzotrifluoride, and allyl chloride.

The evaluation for allyl chloride was updated since this agent was considered previously in 1999. The remaining agents were evaluated by the Working Group for the first time.

The full scientific assessment will be published as Volume 125 of the IARC Monographs.
