IARC Monographs Meeting 126 postponed

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has postponed IARC Monographs Meeting 126: Opium due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. The meeting, which was scheduled to take place on 23–31 March 2020, will now take place on 14‑18 September 2020.

A Working Group of 16 experts from 12 countries will evaluate the carcinogenic hazard posed by traditional uses of opium. The experts will not evaluate the carcinogenic hazard of heroin, morphine, or prescription opioid medications.
