The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) and the Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CICAMS) welcome 41 attendees and faculty members for the third joint CICAMS-IARC China ASEAN Cancer Prevention and Control Training Program. The course’s face-to-face session takes place in Shenzhen, China, on 4–8 November 2019.
The goal of the programme is to contribute to the reduction of the burden of cancer in China and the ASEAN countries (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Viet Nam). This is accomplished by improving health professionals’ knowledge and expertise in planning and implementing effective cancer control programmes, as well as by fostering the adoption of evidence-based strategies for cancer control in the region.
Participants began the training course with 15 online modules and assignments, which started in August 2019. The face-to-face session includes interactive lectures, group discussions, critical analysis of the national cancer control action plans, presentation of practical tools, and site visits.
