The second instalment in the World Cancer Report Updates webinar series will be broadcast live on Monday 14 December at 16:00 CET. The topic of the webinar will be obesity and cancer. The event, which will last approximately one hour, will include two presentations and a question and answer session. Dr Marc Gunter, Head of the Section of Nutrition and Metabolism at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), will chair the event.
This webinar will focus on how we might effectively tackle the obesity–cancer link. Dr Edward Giovannucci, Professor of Nutrition and Epidemiology at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston, USA, will provide an overview of our current understanding of the epidemiology and biology of the obesity–cancer relationship, as well as important outstanding research questions. Dr Annie Anderson, Professor of Public Health Nutrition at the University of Dundee in Scotland, United Kingdom, will discuss the challenges of ongoing and future interventions aimed at breaking the obesity–cancer link, and explore what can be done at both the societal and the individual level to tackle the obesity crisis and its impact on the cancer burden.
The World Cancer Report Updates webinar series aims to provide new perspectives or present new research, to complement the large variety of educational resources based on selected content of World Cancer Report. These educational resources are freely accessible from the World Cancer Report Updates learning platform, which was developed with the support of and in collaboration with the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO).
