About IARC

Funding

IARC activities are mainly funded by the regular budget contributions paid by its Participating States. The regular budget for the 2010-2011 biennium was approved in May 2009 at a level of 37 911 000 EUR.

However, the Agency continues to attract substantial extra-budgetary resources, mainly through competitive grants from funding agencies. The expenditure on grants in 2010 was roughly one quarter of IARC's overall budget.

Major funding sources include the European Commission, the US National Institutes of Health, the World Cancer Research Fund International, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and both charitable and governmental sources in France, such as ANSES, ARC, CLARA, FINOVI, FDF, and LNCC.
