Monetary contributions from private individuals are classified by IARC as "undesignated voluntary contributions", and are reported annually to the IARC Governing Council. Contributions will be used as directed by the Governing Council, and cannot be earmarked by donors for a specific project or activity. IARC can only accept contributions from individuals when the following conditions are met:

  • The minimum donation amount we can currently accept is 20 euros.
  • The total annual contribution amount from any single individual must not exceed 5000 euros.
  • The donor declares no links or association of any kind with the tobacco or arms industries.
  • IARC reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to return any contribution to the donor for any reason.
  • Donors may not use the fact that they have made a contribution to IARC/WHO in any materials used for commercial, promotional, marketing, or advertisement purposes. For the avoidance of doubt, the use of the WHO emblem or the IARC logo is not authorized.

All contributions will be confirmed and acknowledged by IARC in a formal letter to the donor.

For contributions from legal entities, or any other questions about making a donation, please contact IARC′s Office of the Director of Administration and Finance at for additional information.
