Visiting Scientist Award 2010

One of the objectives of the Agency is to generate collaborative research links with scientists around the world and an effective mechanism for achieving this is by making an award to an established scientist to spend time at the Agency in Lyon.
The recipient of this year’s highly competitive Visiting Scientist Award is Dr Jia Chen from the Department of Preventive Medicine, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, USA. Dr Chen will be joining the Epigenetics Group at IARC for 12 months, starting on 1st September 2010 to work with Dr Zdenko Herceg on the prospective investigation of the dietary modulation of the epigenome in relation to breast and lung cancer. This collaborative study is expected to provide a major insight into the role of epigenetic factors, dietary intake and lifestyle in the human cancer risk, and provide important information for human cancer prevention and control.
